| April 2008 Classes Miranda Bag DAY CLASS Sue Trask May/ June 2008 Class Schedule Fat Quarter Sweatshirt Jacket Sue Trask Many of you have been waiting for this class, but now it’s here. Grab lots of fat quarters or use yardage, a sweatshirt and let’s chop up some fabric, sew it into crazy squares and apply it to the sweatshirt. This is a fun jacket, easy to construct and a great stash buster project. There are two models of this project in the shop to help inspire you to make your fabric choices either for you or for someone special. Thurs. May 1st, 8th & 15th 10am-12pm $50.00 Quiltmaking 101 **Beginners**** Melissa St Onge This intro class is geared toward the absolute beginner, the ones who have never made a quilt before. You will learn the basics of rotary cutting, piecing the blocks and piecing the quilt top, and adding borders. The 40 inch square quilt is a sampler which will teach you how to tackle strips, squares, & triangles. Then you can take your completed top through the next step by either machine quilting it or hand quilting it. Sat. May 3rd, 10th, 17th,June 14th, 21st & 28th 2pm-4pm Limit 6 $75.00 Granny’s Bloomers Table Runner Renee Chesnut Join Renee to make an Atkinson table runner. Who couldn’t use another table runner? They make great gifts for those people who want you to make them something they can make use of year round. Make it with spring colors or colors to match your décor, or use batiks or 30’s fabrics. Tues. May 6th, 13th & 20th 7pm-9pm $45.00 Winter Wonderland Redwork Block of the Month (BOM) Renee Chesnut If you have not seen this quilt in person, the photo on the pattern just doesn’t show it off to it’s potential. Come into the shop to see the entire quilt top hanging in the classroom. The monthly class will show you how to hand stitch the redwork blocks and make the individual quilt blocks so that once the months go by and the parts get finished you can put it all together and have it ready for the holiday season of 2008. These hand worked blocks are a great take along to work on wherever you go, this spring and summer. You can stitch it in red, blue, or any color of your choice. $45.00 1st month, $20.00 each month thereafter. 1st Wed. of the month starting May 7,th 7pm-9pm Don’t miss this class you will regret it, once you’ve see the model, now complete in the classroom Charm Party Tote Judy Donahue Come in during the day to meet Judy and make this great tote bag from charms square packs you have in your stash or some from the Quilt Patch. May 14th & 21st 1pm-3:30pm $40.00 Introduction to Machine Quilting Melissa St. Onge Join Melissa to learn the basics of quilting your completed quilt top. She will show you how to use a walking foot for straight line ditch and grid quilting as well as the basics to get you over your fear of free-motion quilting. If you’ve wanted to start quilting your quilt tops, let Melissa be your guide, she is knowledgeable on this topic and she will inspire you to get started. Two three hour classes. Thurs. May 15th & 22nd 6:30-9:30pm $50.00 Hand Quilt Workshop Sue Trask Join Sue to make a wonderful beginning project while learning the basics of hand quilting. You will learn the quilters knot, starting, stopping, the rocking motion needed to make your stitches then you can put the method into practice and get better along the way. Come in, sit down, relax and learn the traditional way of doing things. Sat. May 17th 10am-12pm $25.00 Finish It Up Workshop Sue Trask Come in and meet with Sue to learn some techniques to finish your quilt. Get the borders on with ease, add the binding with ease, whether bias or straight and how to make continuous binding so you can hide the beginning and end. This is a great class for the first time binder or as a refresher to learn a new technique. We will also learn how to apply a crumb catcher at the edge as an accent to your quilt. Wed.
